Properly, Felt Hats develop more character and be better as we grow old.

Only touch your hat with dry and clean hands.

If you put your hat on or go on it of or must adjust it, handle the hat by the back and front of the brim. Otherwise it might lose it%u62AF shape and obtain dirty.

Flexing your hat may eventually weaken one's body in the crown and brim making it lose its capability to keep its shape.

Never handle your hat by holding the crown.. it'll get fingerprint oils about it.

Tend not to get your hat/fedora from the pinch... it'll may misshape it. Inside a straw fedora the pinch will crack. In a Felt hat is may split the felt.

Do not place hat on its brim.. it could flatten or lose its curve especially if it's wet.

Consider using a rain protector. Some hats created from canvas, felt or straw might have applications of Scotchguard to help with making the hats waterproof.

However... some manufacturers do not recommend this. Some suggest silicone based waterproofing yet others don't endorse that.

Temporary.. place your hat on the Styrofoam or hat head. You may make a tube or focused on covered oatmeal box or coffee can.

Tend not to leave your hat in the vehicle or on a sunny day since the humidity may lead it to lose shape as well as the sweatband, cotton, wool or leather, could shrink or distort.

Hats of the material may be responsive to prolonged experience sunshine causing colors to fade.

When you are traveling it's best to transport your hat within a hat box with a handle to insure protection.
